Peter Obi Is A Good Man, But….” — Ex-Obidient Member Sparks Controversy
……But Not Fit For President” — Ex-Obidient Member Sparks Controversy

A former supporter of the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, James Kitiya, has said the former governor stands little chance of winning the 2027 general election.. Egalitarian Voice.
Speaking on Vanguard’s podcast, The Nigerian Meter, Kitiya argued that the wave of support that once surrounded Obi during the 2023 elections has significantly weakened.

Kitiya, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), explained that his decision to leave the Obidient movement and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was based on a reassessment of the current political landscape. #EgalitarianVoice
“Don’t call Peter Obi a candidate; he’s going nowhere in 2027,” he said.
He claimed that many supporters of the Obidient movement, particularly those in the diaspora, lack the grassroots structure needed to influence elections, adding that the unity and enthusiasm seen in 2023 have since declined.

‘Most of these guys, especially those abroad, don’t have voter cards and cannot mobilise on the ground,” he said. “Before the 2023 election, the movement had strong momentum. That level of coordination is no longer there.”

Kitiya further suggested that some members of the movement privately recognise the shift in political strength, despite public displays of confidence.
“If I put two Obidients on speakerphone, they will tell you the real situation,” he added.
He confirmed that he formally joined the APC in February 2026 in Adamawa State, saying his decision was influenced by what he described as visible infrastructural development under the Tinubu administration.

He cited projects such as the coastal road near Eko Atlantic as examples of ongoing work, while also acknowledging that Nigerians are still facing economic hardship.
According to him, although government policies show promise, more needs to be done to address rising living costs.
Kitiya also criticised some Obidient supporters for relying on online insults rather than constructive engagement, though he urged them to continue supporting their preferred candidate peacefully.

Despite his criticisms, he described Peter Obi as “a good man,” but maintained that he does not see a viable path for him to win the 2027 presidential election.
