NIGERIAN YOUTH CONGRESS, OYO STATE CHAPTER, ANNOUNCES DATE, THEME FOR 2026 YOUTH LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

••• Summit to Advance Meaningful Youth Participation in Nigeria’s Electoral Process
The Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC), Oyo State Chapter, has announced Thursday, November 5, 2026, as the date for its 2026 Youth Leadership Summit, scheduled to hold at the Local Government Staff Training School, Local Government House, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The summit, themed “Youth Voices, Youth Power,” with the focus “Advancing Meaningful Participation in Nigeria’s Electoral Process,” is designed to provide a platform for constructive engagement on youth leadership, civic responsibility, democratic participation and the role of young Nigerians in shaping the country’s political future.
The programme, scheduled to commence at 9:00 a.m. prompt, is being organised by the Nigerian Youth Congress, Oyo State Chapter, in collaboration with the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development.
The summit is expected to bring together youth leaders, student representatives, political stakeholders, public office holders, civil society actors and other relevant participants to discuss practical approaches to strengthening youth involvement in electoral and democratic processes.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, the organisers stated that meaningful youth participation remains essential to building an inclusive democratic system where young people are not merely observers but active contributors to decision-making and governance.
According to the Chairperson Planning Committee, Comrade Oladejo Yetunde Dorcas, the theme reflects the need to amplify the voices of young people, encourage responsible civic engagement and promote leadership development that prepares the next generation to participate constructively in Nigeria’s electoral process.
The summit will also provide an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas, share experiences and explore ways to address challenges that limit youth participation in political activities, voter engagement and public leadership.

His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, Executive Governor of Oyo State, is featured on the event publicity as a special personality, while Prince (Hon.) Falana Adebowale Adebayo is listed as the Chief Host.
The NYC Oyo State Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to promoting youth development, leadership capacity and constructive engagement on issues affecting young people across the state. It called on youth organisations, community leaders, students and other interested stakeholders to participate actively in the summit and contribute to the conversations surrounding youth empowerment and democratic inclusion.
The Congress expressed optimism that the summit would stimulate meaningful discussions and encourage a more informed, responsible and participatory youth population, particularly as Nigeria continues to strengthen its democratic institutions and electoral processes.
