VIDEO: “If They Carry AK-47, You Carry AK-47 Too” — Pastor Tells Youths to Arm Themselves, Police, DSS Under Pressure to Act

A video of Pastor Jemimah David of The Latterhouse Christian Centre, Jos, has gone viral, sparking heated debate online over her comments on the persistent killings in Plateau State.
In the clip now circulating on social media, the cleric, while lamenting the killing of women and children in recent attacks in the state, urged Plateau youths to take up arms to defend themselves.
She argued that if attackers can freely carry AK-47 rifles, the youths should also be able to arm themselves for self-defence.
The remarks have triggered mixed reactions.
Critics have described the statement as inciting and capable of escalating violence, calling on the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to invite the pastor for questioning.

However, supporters of the cleric say her comments should be understood within the context of frustration, grief and fear over the repeated killings in Plateau communities, insisting it was a call for self-preservation and not aggression.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Police nor the DSS has issued an official statement on the video, while the Latterhouse Christian Centre is yet to release a formal clarification.
