Toluwanisings’ Burial Dispute: Oyo Police Make Widow, Father, Friends Sign Peace Pact

Toluwanisings’ Burial Dispute: Oyo Police Make Widow, Father, Friends Sign Peace Pact

The Oyo State Police Command has brokered peace between the family and associates of late gospel singer Toluwanisings over disagreements surrounding his burial arrangements, with the parties signing an undertaking to end public exchanges over the matter.

The agreement was reached on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at the Police Command Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, following concerns that the dispute could escalate into allegations of defamation, conspiracy and conduct capable of breaching public peace.

The singer, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonle Bolaji, had been at the centre of public controversy following reports of disagreements between his widow, Mrs Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola, and his family over his final resting place.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the intervention followed information received by the Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, on October 28, 2026, regarding the dispute and the exchanges it had generated across social media and other public platforms.

The police commissioner subsequently directed that the parties be invited to the command headquarters to prevent further escalation and facilitate an amicable resolution.

Those who signed the peace undertaking included the deceased’s wife, his father, Muniru Olayemi, and friends and associates, including Oyindamola Esther, Babadunni Gbolabo and Comrade Lawal Ademola Rafiu, alongside the singer’s personal assistant and other representatives.

Under the agreement, the parties undertook to maintain peace, refrain from actions capable of causing a breach of the peace and discontinue public exchanges, interviews and discussions that could inflame tensions surrounding the singer’s death and burial arrangements.

They also agreed to stop circulating allegations, narratives and publications relating to the dispute through social media, blogs, print media, radio and other communication channels.
