The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi-Aliyu (BASA), has joined eminent sons and daughters of Yorubaland in celebrating the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, on the special occasion of his birthday and wedding anniversary today July 17, 2026.
In a goodwill message made available to Egalitarian Voice, BASA described the Alaafin as a royal icon whose ascension has rekindled hope, strengthened cultural consciousness, and reinforced the enduring prestige of the revered Oyo throne. She noted that the monarch’s humility, wisdom, and commitment to preserving Yoruba values have continued to earn him admiration both within and beyond Nigeria.
According to her, the coincidence of the Alaafin’s birthday and wedding anniversary is a divine reminder that great leadership flourishes where love, stability, and family values are firmly rooted. She commended His Imperial Majesty and Ayaba Abiwunmi Owoade for exemplifying a royal union founded on mutual respect, dignity, and unwavering commitment.
BASA prayed that Almighty God would continue to crown the Alaafin with wisdom, sound health, divine protection, and a long, peaceful reign filled with remarkable achievements. She also wished the royal couple enduring joy, abundant blessings, and many more years of celebrating God’s faithfulness together.
The PDP senatorial standard-bearer reaffirmed her respect for the traditional institution, stressing that the Alaafin remains a rallying point for unity, cultural preservation, and community development.
