ONA-ARA, OYO STATE – Hon. Dauda Obisesan has emerged as the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) councillorship candidate for Ward 2 in Ona-Ara Local Government following a keenly contested party primary election, Egalitarian Voice reports.
Obisesan secured 17 votes to edge out his closest rival, Abass Akanji, who polled 16 votes, sealing victory by a single vote in the exercise conducted among the ward’s accredited delegates.

Addressing journalists after the primary, party stakeholders disclosed that the election was conducted in strict compliance with the ward’s earlier resolution, which approved 35 delegates to participate in the voting process. They explained that the arrangement had been jointly agreed upon by all concerned and was implemented without deviation.

The stakeholders noted that internal party politics is largely driven by grassroots consensus and established arrangements, which may vary from one ward to another. They maintained that the process that produced Hon. Dauda Obisesan as the party’s candidate was transparent, credible, and in line with the collective decision reached by Ward 2.
“No one should tamper with Hon. Dauda Obisesan’s victory in our ward,” the stakeholders declared, urging party members and supporters to respect the outcome of the primary and remain united ahead of the forthcoming local government election.
