‘He was a Great Man of Excellence’ – BASA Mourns Demise of Lekan Alabi

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Oyo South Senatorial Candidate, Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi-Aliyu (BASA), has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Lekan Alabi, describing his death as a monumental loss to Ibadanland, Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole.
In her condolence message, BASA described the late Chief Lekan Alabi as a man of excellence whose life was marked by outstanding service, integrity, scholarship, and selfless contributions to society.
“He was a truly great man—an exceptional personality, very generous, humble, and jovial. His wisdom, wealth of knowledge, and remarkable achievements as an academician, author, historian, and respected cultural icon earned him admiration across generations. His legacy of excellence will continue to inspire countless people,” she said.
BASA noted that the late elder statesman dedicated his life to preserving the rich history and cultural heritage of Ibadanland while mentoring younger generations through his vast knowledge and exemplary leadership.
She extended her heartfelt condolences to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, the Alabi family, the Ibadan Traditional Council, and the people of Oyo State, praying that God grants them the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

“Though Chief Lekan Alabi has departed this world, his remarkable legacy, invaluable contributions, and unforgettable impact on humanity will remain evergreen. May Almighty God forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest,” BASA concluded.
