The Federal Government has approved an increase in the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000.
The increase, effective July 2024, aligns with the new national minimum wage of ₦70,000.
NYSC spokesperson Caroline Embu confirmed the development, citing the government’s commitment to enhancing corps members’ welfare.
NYSC Director General Brigadier General YD Ahmed had previously advocated for better welfare packages.
The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission approved the increase in a letter dated September 25, 2024.
With this increase, corps members will receive a significant boost in their monthly stipend, improving their overall experience during the service year.
