The Yoruba Youth Council (YYC) has announced the postponement of its much-anticipated Yoruba Youth Summit, earlier scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 15, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State, till further notice.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Group President, Aare (Mogaji) Alawode Rahmon Akintunde, and made available to newsmen in Ibadan through the Council’s Publicity Secretary, Ogbeni Kabir Ajibode.
According to the statement, the decision was necessitated by the ongoing National Youth Conference (CONFAB), which has been taking place virtually across the country and is scheduled to engage participants from the Southwest region on October 16 and 17, 2026.
The Council explained that the postponement was intended to avoid a clash of programmes and ensure that Yoruba youths have the opportunity to participate meaningfully in both engagements.
Aare Alawode Rahmon Akintunde recalled that the Federal Government had endorsed the date earlier scheduled for the summit, assuring stakeholders and prospective participants that a new date would be announced as soon as possible.
He appealed to Yoruba youths, invited guests, stakeholders, partners and other supporters of the summit to remain patient and continue to support the Council’s commitment to youth development, leadership, entrepreneurship and regional integration.
Meanwhile, the YYC President used the opportunity to inform Yoruba youths of an invitation extended by the Council’s National Patron, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, to attend the official declaration in support of the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on October 17, 2026, at Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Ibadan, as part of activities marking his birthday celebration.
The Council encouraged Yoruba youths to take note of the development and remain united in advancing the interests, aspirations and collective progress of the Yoruba nation.
The Yoruba Youth Council regrets any inconvenience the postponement may cause and appreciates the understanding and continued cooperation of all stakeholders.
Signed:
Aare (Mogaji) Alawode Rahmon Akintunde
Group President, Yoruba Youth Council (YYC)
Issued through:
