The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo State has welcomed new members from Boye Nation, Ibo Loju Egbeda, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Accord Party as part of efforts to expand its grassroots political structure.

Egalitarian Voice reports that the development took place on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, during the party’s general meeting held at the SDP premises in Ibadan, where party leaders, elected officials, political appointees and other stakeholders gathered to deliberate on party affairs and formally receive the new members.

While receiving the defectors, the Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sikiru Sanda, promised inclusiveness and unity among members, assuring the new entrants that they would be given a sense of belonging within the party.

Sanda emphasised the importance of working together, fostering mutual understanding and strengthening unity among members, irrespective of their political backgrounds, as the party continues to expand its membership and grassroots structure in Egbeda.

In his remarks, the APM Publicity Secretary in Egbeda Local Government, Engr. Aare Ademola Ibrahim Lawal, admonished party faithful to sustain the projection of the achievements of Oyo State Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, while intensifying efforts to mobilise support for all APM candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Lawal urged members to remain committed to communicating the governor’s good works to the people and to use their various platforms and grassroots networks to promote the party’s candidates across the state. He stressed the importance of unity, effective communication and collective mobilisation in strengthening the party’s electoral prospects as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.

The meeting was attended by the Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sikiru Sanda, and his Vice Chairman, Hon. Oladebo Ibrahim, popularly known as SIMPLE. Other prominent party figures included the APM Chairman in Egbeda, Chief Alawe; Hon. William Akin-Funmilayo; and Hon. Sunkanmi, a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly.

Also in attendance was Hon. Busari Olayemi, Director-General of the Oyo State Liaison Office in Abuja and Lagos, alongside ward chairmen, youth leaders, women leaders, political appointees and other party faithful.

The APM senatorial candidate for Oyo Central, Ambassador Olatoyinbo Ajadi, also graced the occasion. Similarly, the party’s candidate for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, Hon. Temitope Oladimeji, popularly known as OTOPE, was represented by his Personal Assistant, Hon. Idris Gbedeogun. Other prominent personalities were also present at the gathering.

The reception of the new members formed part of the party’s efforts to broaden its political base, strengthen internal cohesion and consolidate its presence at the grassroots level in Egbeda Local Government.
