Some weeks ago, a news broke out pointing accusing fingers to two top officials of the ministry of health and Hospital Management Board. The two alleged officials – name withheld, were accused for selling unclaimed corpes deposited at Oyo State Hospital mortuary after several months.
Investigation revealed that the Ministry of Health obtained the approval of the State Government to organize mass burial for corpes, but the Ministry under the supervision of the officials disposed off the corpses discretely in a yet to be disclosed location till date.
A development which presupposes that the corpses must have been sold or used for a very inhumane purpose. Their evil act was uncovered and two officials were subsequently arrested and interrogated.

In the course of interrogation, the alleged officials stated that the corpses were released to the Management of University College Hospital (UCH) for the use medical students in their clinicals. However, contrary to the said claim of the alleged officials, information has it that UCH never received any corpses from Oyo State Ministry of Health for clinical or any form of medical practice.
We learnt that the alleged officials have been posted to the Office of the Head of Service ( HoS) of Oyo State, and given no portfolios or schedules.
We are now appealing to state government under the leadership of Engr Seyi Makinde, for the sake of unknown and unclaimed corpses who deserves to have their eternal rest and bring the Perpetrators of this evil act to book in good time.
