At Last, Tinubu Speaks on Nigeria’s Insecurity, Sends Strong Message to Terrorists
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has finally spoken extensively on the security challenges facing Nigeria, assuring citizens that the country will not surrender to terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and other violent criminal groups.
In a strongly worded message released on Tuesday, the President commended members of the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), intelligence agencies, local security formations, and other frontline operatives for their commitment to protecting the nation.
Tinubu described security personnel as the protective shield standing between innocent Nigerians and those seeking to disrupt peace and stability across the country.
“You stand as a shield between innocent citizens and those who seek to destroy the peace, safety, and dignity of our communities,” the President stated.
He acknowledged the sacrifices being made by security operatives in forests, highways, creeks, air operations, and other difficult terrains, noting that their efforts enable millions of Nigerians to live, work, worship, farm, and conduct their daily activities in relative safety.
According to the President, the battle against terrorism and criminality has not been easy, but the courage and resilience of security personnel remain commendable.
“This fight has not been easy. It has come with pain, pressure, and sacrifice. But your courage has remained firm. Your service is acknowledged. Your sacrifice is honoured. Your country does not take you for granted,” he said.

Tinubu also paid tribute to the families of security personnel, recognising the emotional burden they bear while their loved ones are away on national assignments.
“I also acknowledge the families behind the uniform. Many of you have endured long absences, anxious nights, and the emotional cost of duty. Nigeria remembers that sacrifice, too,” he added.
The President further honoured military personnel and security operatives who lost their lives in the line of duty, saying their sacrifices would never be forgotten.
“We honour those who have paid the supreme price in defence of our country. Their names may not always trend, but their courage lives on in rescued communities, protected families, and the survival of the nation they served,” Tinubu noted.

Calling on Nigerians to support ongoing security operations, the President stressed that defeating terrorism and insecurity requires collective effort and active citizen participation.
“The fight against terror is not only a military operation. It is a national duty. Citizens must support our security forces by providing timely, useful information. When you see something, say something. When you know something, report it,” he urged.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and security nationwide, Tinubu declared that criminal groups would not be allowed to define Nigeria’s future or identity.
“Nigeria will not surrender to fear. We will not allow terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, or violent extremists to define who we are as a people. Their violence is not our identity. Their hatred does not represent Nigerians of any faith, creed, or community,” the President declared.
He concluded by thanking all security personnel for their courage, vigilance, and patriotism, while praying for divine protection over them as they continue to defend the country.
The statement comes amid renewed public concern over insecurity in parts of the country and serves as one of the President’s strongest public messages yet on the nation’s security challenges.
