YOUTH Stakeholders in Ona Ara Local Government is appealing for the state government’s attention to the agreement reached on the ongoing reconstruction on the popular Ogbere-Tioya bridge by them, the government and the contractor handling the project.
This was disclosed in a new month message from the Youth stakeholders to welcome the good people of Ona Ara Local Government to the month of November. It was noted that November should be the month that will ease the struggle of ONA-ARA indigenes. The groups also remind the State Government under the able leadership of Engr. Oluwaseyi Makinde of the agreed date for the completion of the Ogbere- Tioya bridge. 15th of November is the promised date given to them by the contractors handling the Ogbere-Tioya bridge to deliver the project for the usage of the general populace.
The agreement was reached during the peaceful trek the groups staged to the state government Secretariat on 7th August, 2022 over the abandonment condition of the bridge and many other projects in the local Government.
Also the group appealing to the State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to remember the areas in his list of numerous ongoing road rehabilitation projects across the State.
The Groups are: Ona Ara Emergency Alert, Ona Ara Students Union, Association of Registered Social Youths Club ARSOYOC Ona Ara Chapter, Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide YCYW Ona Ara Chapter, Man O’ War Ona Ara Chapter.
The communities with a population of over 50,000 residents are daily facing challenges of getting to work and returning home due to the deplorable state of their roads.
According to the groups, workers and students living in the areas have resulted in dropping their various houses to rent an apartment in the town.
Those with cars visit mechanic on regular basis for car repairs due to the effects of the bad roads they ply daily.
While appealing to Governor Seyi Makinde to consider the area in the ongoing massive road construction.
