The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial Candidate for Oyo South in the 2027 general election, Honourable Bolanle Aminat Sarumi-Aliyu (BASA), has congratulated Muslim faithful in Oyo State, Nigeria, and across the world on the occasion of the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1448 AH, urging them to embrace the enduring lessons of faith, sacrifice, perseverance, and devotion exemplified by the historic migration of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
In a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Ibadan, BASA described the commencement of a new Islamic year as a time for reflection, spiritual renewal, and prayers for peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria.
She called on Muslims to remember abducted schoolchildren, teachers, and other victims of insecurity in their prayers, stressing the need for collective supplication for their safe return and comfort for their families.
“While celebrating Hijrah 1448 AH, let us remember our brothers and sisters who are currently in captivity. I urge all Muslim faithful to offer prayers for the safe release of the abducted schoolchildren, teachers, and other victims, and for strength and comfort for their families during this difficult period,” she said.
Oyo Government Declares Tuesday Work-Free Day
BASA prayed that the new Islamic year would usher in divine mercy, renewed hope, lasting peace, and greater prosperity for Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
She wished all Muslims a peaceful, rewarding, and spiritually fulfilling Hijrah 1448 AH celebration.
