The Yoruba Youth Council (YYC) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, the revered elder statesman and national leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, who died at the age of 100.

In a condolence statement signed by the National President of the Yoruba Youth Council, Aare (Mogaji) Alawode Rahmon Akintunde, the Council described the late Pa Fasoranti as a distinguished patriarch whose life was devoted to the service of humanity, the advancement of Yorubaland and the promotion of good governance, integrity and national development.
The Council noted that the death of the centenarian represents a monumental loss to the Yoruba nation, Nigeria and the wider community of people who value selfless leadership, democratic principles and the preservation of Yoruba cultural heritage.
According to the YYC President, Pa Fasoranti’s remarkable journey through life and his contributions to the Yoruba socio-political movement have secured him a place of honour in the history of the Yoruba people. His commitment to the ideals of Afenifere and his longstanding advocacy for justice, equity, democracy and good governance remain important lessons for present and future generations.
“Yorubaland has lost a revered patriarch whose life was a testament to service, integrity, courage and unwavering commitment to the progress of our people. Pa Reuben Fasoranti represented a generation of leaders who placed the collective interest of the people above personal considerations.
“His passing at the age of 100 marks the end of a remarkable chapter, but the values he upheld and the legacy he leaves behind will continue to inspire generations of Yoruba sons and daughters,” Akintunde stated.
The Yoruba Youth Council further commiserated with the Fasoranti family, the leadership and members of Afenifere, the government and people of Ondo State, and the entire Yoruba nation over the painful loss.
The Council urged Yoruba youths across the Southwest and beyond to draw inspiration from the late elder statesman’s dedication to public service, peaceful engagement, democratic ideals and the preservation of Yoruba identity.
It also called on traditional rulers, political leaders, socio-cultural organisations and youth groups to honour his memory by promoting unity, mutual respect, justice and the collective development of Yorubaland.
The YYC prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the departed elder statesman and asked Almighty God to grant his family, associates and the entire Yoruba nation the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
May the soul of Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti rest in perfect peace.
Signed:
Aare (Mogaji) Alawode Rahmon Akintunde
