According to the circular signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. B.T. Oyinloye, the decision became necessary due to prevailing security concerns.
The statement noted that the ministry is taking proactive steps to safeguard the lives of students and members of staff in schools across the state.

The circular stated that all school administrators are to immediately suspend all excursions, field trips, sports competitions, and any other activities requiring students to move outside school premises.

It further explained that all previous approvals earlier granted by the ministry for such activities have been overridden by the new directive.
The ministry stressed that the safety of students remains non-negotiable and must take precedence over all academic and extracurricular engagements.

School administrators were also advised to ensure students remain within school premises during school hours and to promptly report any suspicious movement or activity around schools to relevant law enforcement agencies.
The directive, which takes immediate effect, will remain in force pending improvement in the security situation across the state.

The ministry therefore urged all concerned stakeholders to ensure strict compliance with the Egalitarian Voice
