2027: BASA Set to Officially Declare for Oyo South Senate Today, Vows “Leadership with Heart”

The political dynamics of the Oyo South Senatorial District are set for a major shift today as Hon. Mrs. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi Aliyu (BASA) officially declares her candidacy for the Senate ahead of the 2027 General Elections on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The declaration ceremony, scheduled to hold at the BASA Campaign Headquarters in Molete, Ibadan, is expected to attract a massive gathering of party stalwarts, youth groups, women leaders, and supporters from across the senatorial district.
Hon. Sarumi Aliyu, a former Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Matters to Governor Seyi Makinde, is anchoring her campaign on the theme, “Leadership with Heart.” She has pledged to bridge the gap between federal legislative responsibilities and tangible community impact at the grassroots.
“I understand that representation is about the people you lift, not just the bills you pass,” BASA stated. “My commitment is to ensure that the voice of Oyo South becomes a catalyst for economic empowerment and the protection of the most vulnerable.”

With a historic record as the first female governorship candidate in Oyo State’s history in 2019, alongside a strong legacy of humanitarian service through the BASA Foundation, her entry into the race is widely anticipated to become a defining factor in the build-up to the PDP primaries.
