••• Initiative Follows Installation of 300KVA Transformer Two Years Ago as Residents Pool Resources for Improved Electricity Supply
The development, achieved through financial contributions from individual households, marks another significant milestone in the community’s commitment to providing essential infrastructure for its residents. It comes approximately two years after the community installed a 300KVA transformer to address its electricity needs.
The community, located near the Nigerian Air Force area in Ajia town, has continued to demonstrate collective responsibility and self-help in pursuing projects aimed at improving the welfare of its residents.
Speaking on the development, the General Chairman of Unity General Community, Mr. Bukola Saheed, expressed appreciation to residents for their cooperation, financial contributions and commitment to the project, describing their collective efforts as a demonstration of unity and a shared determination to move the community forward.
He commended the households that contributed towards the procurement of the transformer and encouraged residents to sustain the spirit of cooperation that has continued to drive development initiatives within the community.
Despite the successful procurement of the transformer, the community has appealed to the government, private organisations, corporate bodies and well-meaning individuals to support the installation process to ensure the facility becomes operational as soon as possible.
According to the community, the installation project covers an estimated area of 1,000 square metres and involves approximately 25 high-tension poles, alongside other essential electrical installation materials and infrastructure.
The community noted that additional financial and material support would help accelerate the installation process and bring the anticipated benefits of improved electricity supply closer to residents.
The appeal also presents an opportunity for relevant government agencies, electricity stakeholders, philanthropists and corporate organisations to partner with the community in completing a project that is expected to benefit households and contribute to socioeconomic activities in the area.
Unity General Community’s latest initiative highlights the potential of community-driven development when residents come together to address shared challenges. However, the community says external support is now needed to expedite the remaining installation work and bring the ₦15 million transformer project to completion.
