Rivers LG Poll Ongoing Amid Tight Security
Security agencies have mounted a heavy presence across Rivers State as residents troop out to cast their votes in today’s local government elections.
Armed operatives were sighted at polling units, strategic junctions, and local government headquarters to ensure orderliness and forestall any form of disruption during the exercise.
Reports indicate that voter turnout is building gradually across several local government areas, with election materials arriving at designated polling centers under security escort.
The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) had earlier assured the public of a free, fair, and credible process, while urging voters to conduct themselves peacefully.
As of press time, voting is ongoing peacefully in most parts of the state under tight security surveillance.
