Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, renowned for his trademark dance moves, has shared that his passion for dancing began before he was even born.

In an interview with Punch published on Saturday, Governor Adeleke recounted that his mother often told him how, during her pregnancy, he would move in her womb whenever music played and would go still as soon as the music stopped.
Adeleke further revealed that by the time he was around nine months to a year old, his mother noticed that whenever he cried, playing music would instantly calm him down and make him start dancing. As he grew older, he realized that having music around made him more productive, cementing its role as an essential part of his life.
“This is a true story,” Adeleke said. “My mother told me that while pregnant with me, anytime she heard music, especially praise and worship, I would move inside her. But when the music stopped, I’d become still. She found it unusual and wondered what kind of child I would be.
“When I was about nine months to a year old, she discovered that if I was crying, the moment music played, I’d stop crying and start dancing. Later in life, when I began working, I noticed I was more efficient with music playing in the background. Dancing is simply part of who I am.”
Addressing critics who’ve attempted to use his love for dancing against him, Adeleke explained that his passion has only amplified his popularity and connection with people. Despite holding high political offices, he emphasized that dancing hasn’t undermined his credibility or leadership.

“When I was elected senator, some opponents tried to turn my love for dancing against me. But instead, it made me even more popular, especially on social media. God flipped the narrative in my favor, and people began to love me more. So, I kept dancing. My family even advised me to tone it down, but I refused because I know my dancing brings joy to many.

“I’ve shown other governors that dancing doesn’t diminish their status or respect. We are all human. Dancing doesn’t make me any less of a leader. Even President Bill Clinton played the saxophone, and that didn’t affect his presidency. Everyone needs a hobby,” he concluded.
