Oyo State Governor Engr Seyi Makinde has announced that one billion naira will henceforth be committed to payment of pensions and gratuities on a monthly basis till the end of his administration in May 2027.
Governor Makinde made the pronouncement at the 70th birthday anniversary celebrations of the Secretary, Oyo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Comrade Olusegun Abatan.
The Governor who disclosed that the Executive Secretary, Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, remains one of those who championed his election and re-election bids in 2019 and 2023, further described the celebrant as an exceptional and selfless individual.
He also noted that Pensioners in Oyo State deserve to be treated right, said the state needs a model devoid of catch-up in the payment of gratuities and pensions.
He therefore announced the monthly commitment of one billion naira to the payment of pensions and gratuities as against the about 500 million naira being paid before now.
