Update: Nigeria’s Inflation Drops to 14.63% in September 2026

Nigeria’s headline inflation rate declined to 14.63 per cent in September 2026, down from 15.39 per cent recorded in August, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The NBS disclosed this in its latest Consumer Price Index report released on Thursday, October 15. Month-on-month headline inflation also slowed to 0.06 per cent in September from 0.71 per cent in August.
However, food inflation remained high at 19.59 per cent year-on-year, although food prices fell by 1.55 per cent on a month-on-month basis.
The figures indicate a slowdown in the rate of price increases, but persistent food inflation and high living costs continue to place pressure on Nigerian households.
