TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,
OFFICIAL PRESS STATEMENT
We, the leadership of the student structures in Oyo State, have observed with concern the circulation of several pictures and reports suggesting that some politicians are engaging with individuals presented as student leaders in Oyo State.

For the sake of clarity and public understanding, we wish to state categorically that we are aware of such developments, and we can clearly identify many of the individuals in those engagements as former student leaders. While we acknowledge their past roles, it is important to emphasize that they are no longer active within the campus system and are far away from the current realities and student leadership structures.
We hereby state unequivocally that the student leadership structures in Oyo State have not held any meeting, whether public or private, with any politician, and any claim, representation, or impression suggesting otherwise should be disregarded in its entirety.
As student leaders, we are conscious of our role within the democratic space. We are not apolitical, and we recognize the importance of engaging with political actors and candidates, particularly in ensuring that student-centered policies and interests are represented and protected. However, such engagements must be structured, collective, and in the best interest of the student community. At this moment, no engagement has taken place.
We strongly caution against the use of the name, image, or identity of Oyo State student leadership structures to create false impressions, gain political advantage, or “sell a narrative” that does not exist. As we are being very careful of the narrative of students can’t be trusted.
