President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did what no President has done in 30 years — he approved expansion of Nigerian Army from 8 to 12 Divisions and recruitment of 28,000 soldiers to kill insecurity.
And where is the heartbeat? 2 Division Headquarters remains in IBADAN to cover Oyo, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo. Oyo State is the direct beneficiary. After the painful Oriire abduction of 39 pupils and 7 teachers in May, Tinubu himself said this restructuring was a direct response to save Oyo children.
But what did Governor Seyi Makinde do?
He ran to North-Central — to Lafia — to campaign AGAINST it! He told the APM Town Hall: _”I was looking at the budget for 2026. I was looking for the item… I did not see it.”_ and said _”you cannot just wake up… I am setting up army divisions”_ 7816

Haba! Engr. Makinde, this is shameful.
1. You are an Engineer, you should know project phasing: Presidency said Phase 1 will be completed by September 2026, Phase 2 by December 2026. Supplementary budget is allowed under the Armed Forces Act. Security emergency does not wait for budget printing.
2. You oppose what benefits Oyo: 2 Division in Ibadan will bring more soldiers, more barracks, more spending, more protection for Ido, Ibarapa, Oke-Ogun. Yet you go to Nasarawa to discredit it because you want to run for President in 2027 under APM?
3. Oyo pays the price: While you are in Lafia doing opposition politics, bandits kidnapped our pupils in Oriire. Tinubu refused to pay ransom and rescued them. Instead of supporting him, you are asking for budget line?

A Governor who politicizes Army expansion that will protect his own people cannot be trusted to be Commander-in-Chief of Nigeria.
If Makinde cannot support an Army Division sitting in Ibadan, how will he support the whole Nigerian Army from Aso Rock?
Oyo people, shine your eyes!
