Oyo School Attack: PDP Oyo South Senatorial Aspirant, Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi-Aliyu (BASA), Condemns killings and Abductions, Demands Decisive Action

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi-Aliyu (BASA), has vehemently condemned the horrific attack, killings, and subsequent abduction of citizens by a terrorist group in three schools at Orire Local Government of Oyo State yesterday. In a press statement released by her Special Assistant on Media and Strategy, Seye Akanmu, the senatorial hopeful described the assault on an educational institution as an intolerable strike against the peace, future, and stability of Oyo State. She expressed her deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the brutal attack and commiserated with the entire community.

“Schools must remain sacred sanctuaries for learning, growth, and development,” BASA stated. “To have our children and citizens targeted, killed, and abducted within an educational environment by terrorists is a devastating blow that we must confront with absolute resolve. My heart goes out to the families affected by this tragedy.” While expressing strong optimism in the capacity of the Nigerian Police Force and sister security agencies to safely rescue the abducted victims, the PDP frontrunner enjoined both the state and federal governments to “dig in” and adopt a more aggressive, proactive strategy to permanently eliminate banditry and terrorism. “We cannot afford to play defense any longer. I urge the government and all security apparatuses to deepen their intelligence-gathering, deploy maximum resources, and decisively rein in these bandits before they wreck further havoc on our peaceful communities,” she added. BASA called on members of the public to remain vigilant, calm, and cooperative with law enforcement agencies by providing timely information that could aid the ongoing rescue operations.
