[OPINION]: More Oshimen Will Emerged If Government Invest In Sports – Akinlabi
The founder of Egalitarian Team, Oyo State, Mr Segun Akinlabi who is an educationist, human activist and an egalitarian fellow has called the attention of the government to invest more on sports in Nigeria particularly Oyo State so as to bring out the best in the youths as early as possible. Although, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde is laying a good foundation for other states to emulate but the best is yet to come.
Segun stated this in a statement made available to the journalist in Ibadan where he congratulated the hitman of Napoli of Italy, Victor Osimhen over the emergence of his club as the champions of Seria A league.
He noted that with the right investment in sports hundreds of Osimhen would not only be discovered but groomed to stardom.
He charged the government from federal to local level to prioritize sports development, he pointed out that it could be recorded that it’s when Victor Oshimen was given the chance to showcase his talent that is when his glory begins to shine.

“If government can be organizing the foremost “Principal Cup and Inter House Sports in public schools would be revatilised for talent discovery while grassroots sports development would be encouraged by creating the enabling environment.
According to him, “Yes, Osimhen has done exceedingly well for himself; he has not only made his family proud, he has been a good ambassador to our dear country, Nigeria.
“Although he achieved this feat through consistency and a dint of hardwork which is very good but without given the chance, he can’t do anything with his talent.
“Nigerians are indeed proud of him as has been an inspiration to many of Nigerian youths.
“Nigeria government should ensure that sports development is in their developmental agenda because sports is no longer a leisure, it’s now a money spinning business, in addition to the fact that sports can curb youths restiveness.

“Once again, I heartily rejoice and congratulate Victor Osimhen for the successes he has recorded with the Italian clubside. He has not only won the league, but is in run for the highest goal scorer in Seria A, more honours to come for him soon”, Akinlabi Segun prayed.
