Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has said that Nigeria would see little or no change if former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, becomes president.
He made the comment while appearing on the Honest Bunch Podcast, where he also claimed that Obi’s support base is largely driven by ethnic loyalty.
According to him, Peter Obi, President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and former President Olusegun Obasanjo share similar political thinking and ideology.
Sani said, “The support for Peter Obi is tribal; many of the people supporting him are from his ethnic group.”
He added that even if Obi were elected president, governance would remain largely unchanged.
If Obi becomes the President of Nigeria today, nothing changes, everything remains the same,” he said.

He further argued that Nigeria’s major political figures operate within the same ideological framework.
“Peter Obi, Obasanjo, Atiku, and Tinubu are the same people ideologically; they all think alike. Tinubu will win the 2027 election,” he added.
Reflecting on past administrations, Sani also referenced former President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure, saying insecurity persisted while reactions from political elites varied depending on who was speaking.
He also recalled his time in the Senate, alleging that his concerns about killings and kidnappings were often opposed by fellow lawmakers from the North.
