The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi-Aliyu (BASA), has expressed profound appreciation to the leadership of the party following the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which dismissed the appeal challenging the Federal High Court ruling on the party’s leadership dispute arising from the controversial National Convention.

In a statement released on Wednesday, BASA commended the National Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and the party’s overall National Leader, His Excellency Nyesom Wike, for their steadfastness, resilience, and commitment to safeguarding the interests and stability of the PDP throughout the legal process.
The Court of Appeal had unanimously dismissed the appeal filed against the judgment of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, holding that the appeal had become academic and no longer presented any live issue for determination following the Supreme Court’s nullification of the convention that formed the basis of the dispute.
Reacting to the judgment, BASA described the outcome as a significant victory for constitutional order, internal democracy, and the rule of law within the party.

According to her, the decision further strengthens confidence in lawful processes and underscores the importance of respecting the provisions of the party’s constitution.
“I sincerely appreciate our National Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and our respected National Leader, His Excellency Nyesom Wike, for their exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the progress of our great party.
“This legal victory is not for individuals but for the PDP as an institution. It demonstrates that due process, constitutionalism, and the rule of law remain the guiding principles of our party,” BASA stated.
The Oyo South senatorial candidate noted that the judgment provides an opportunity for party members across the country to close ranks, embrace unity, and focus on strengthening the PDP ahead of future political engagements.
She urged all stakeholders to place the collective interest of the party above personal ambitions and work together to reposition the PDP as a stronger and more formidable platform for democratic governance in Nigeria.

BASA further reaffirmed her loyalty to the PDP and pledged her continued support for efforts aimed at promoting unity, inclusiveness, and sustainable growth within the party.
“Now is the time for reconciliation, renewed commitment, and collective action. We must unite behind our leadership and continue working towards building a stronger PDP capable of meeting the aspirations of Nigerians,” she added.
She concluded by expressing confidence that the party would emerge stronger from its challenges and continue to provide credible leadership and a viable democratic alternative for the Nigerian people.
