IWD: BASA Celebrate Women, Call For Progress, Justice, and Empowerment for Women’s
My wonderful fellow women of Nigeria,
Today, on International Women’s Day, I stand before you as Honorable Bolanle Aminat Sarumi ( BASA ) filled with pride and gratitude. Today is not just a celebration; it’s a recognition of the strength, resilience, and boundless potential that resides within every woman.
We are the inheritors of a legacy woven by queens and warriors. Amina of Zaria, who carved a kingdom with her own spear. Moremi Ajasoro, who saved her people. These women and more shaped our history. Are we any less?
In the heart of Nigeria, where diversity thrives, we gather to honour the remarkable women who have shaped our past and those who continue to mold our future. Our journey is one of triumph over adversity, breaking barriers, and rewriting the narrative for generations to come.
To the women who have stood as pillars in their communities, you are the unsung heroines weaving the fabric of our society. Your dedication and selflessness inspire us all. Today, we amplify your voices, acknowledging the countless contributions that too often go unnoticed.
In our pursuit of gender equality, let us remember that our diversity is our strength. It is the collective power of our dreams, aspirations, and determination that propels us forward. As we celebrate today, let us recommit ourselves to fostering an environment where every woman can thrive and reach her full potential.
Let us challenge stereotypes, break the shackles of inequality, and champion the cause of inclusivity. Together, we can create a Nigeria where the daughters of today become the leaders of tomorrow, where opportunities abound for every woman, regardless of background or circumstance.
On this International Women’s Day, let our collective voices echo a resounding call for progress, justice, and empowerment. May we continue to support and uplift one another, fostering a society where the potential of every woman is not just recognized but celebrated.
Happy International Women’s Day to the incredible women of Nigeria!
Yours,
BASA
