….says the earlier the best
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Ona-Ara Local Government, Oyo State, Hon. Wale Ajala, has applauded the party’s zoning arrangement ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing it as a major turning point for the PDP.
Ajala, a former House of Assembly aspirant and the 2023 Campaign Coordinator for Governor Seyi Makinde’s re-election in Ona-Ara Local Government, stated this in an interview with Egalitarian Voice on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
Recall that at its 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, the PDP zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the South while also retaining the existing National Working Committee (NWC) zoning formula ahead of its November elective convention.
According to Ajala, the decision reflects the party’s collective leadership and vision, aimed at uniting members across regions and positioning the PDP strongly for the 2027 presidential race.

“Zoning the presidential ticket to the South is the surest path to victory for the PDP in 2027. It will further promote unity and progress within the party. I must also commend Governor Seyi Makinde for keeping the PDP solid and vibrant in Oyo State, thereby strengthening the party’s national outlook,” he said.
Ajala further noted that the forthcoming National Convention, scheduled to hold in Ibadan on November 15–16, would mark a decisive moment, with a new National Working Committee expected to emerge to steer the PDP towards the 2027 elections.

“The PDP is gradually finding its way back to stability through recent strategic decisions. With the collective leadership of the party at the centre, complemented by leaders like Governor Makinde at the state level, the PDP is taking bold steps that will give it an edge in 2027,” Ajala stressed.
