“The Great Araba Is Gone” -Hajia Maryam Atiku
The National Executive and members of Atikulated Global Movement (AGM), a foremost political interest group of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), mourn the exit of a great Icon, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, the Founder DAAR COMMUNICATION and owner of AIT and Ray Power FM who passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023.
According to the statement signed by the National Leader, Hajia Maryam Atiku Abubakar on behalf of the group with a copy released to newsmen on Tuesday, 20th June, 2023, AGM paid tribute to the elder statesman, an icon of Nigerian media industry and a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The National Leader lamented that the death of the veteran media entrepreneur is both a colossal loss to the sector, and great loss to our country.
Hajia Maryam noted that High Chief Raymond Dokpesi was an accomplished business mogul, respected and detribalised Nigerian who left an indelible footprints in Nigeria’s political and economic development with the establishment of the first privately owned radio station and first private television network in Nigeria as well as Africa’s first private satellite television. He was indeed a conqueror in multiple frontiers.
As she expressed, “Oh! The death of High Chief Raymond Dokpesi was shocking to us all. Philanthropists of his kind were typically rare. He was blessed with knowledge and rich in wisdom. He was not just a loss to us in PDP but a loss to Nigeria as a whole. He was a committed Nationlist and a dedicated mentor. High Chief keep resting till we meet again. May the Almighty God be with us your family and grant you eternal rest, we love you!”
