A group within the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that has taken on the responsibility of promoting the candidacy of His Excellency Atiku Abubakar/Ifeanyi Okowa at the grassroots level, ‘OYO CENTRAL MOVEMENT FOR ATIKU’ has commenced full-scale outreach and campaign activities. The group will focus on all Eleven (11) local government areas within the Oyo Central Senatorial District in Oyo State and is also committed to promoting all candidates of the PDP.
The group’s founder, Dr. Iyanda (ASEJERE), stated that “the adoption of HE Atiku Abubakar as the flagbearer of our great party in a contest keenly contested by the best and brightest, and by the Grace of God, the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, was based primarily on his experience, capacity, and love for our dear country.” He further stated, “Nigeria is on the path to economic destruction and needs the ship redirected toward sustainable economic prosperity. The last time Nigerians enjoyed unparalleled growth and stability, HE Atiku led the Economic team as Vice President under the leadership of President Obasanjo. That blueprint was never misplaced but ignored for the most part by successive governments. It is now updated with present realities, and we should all join hands to bring back the man who did it then and is willing to do it again and return us to the path of prosperity.”
He concluded by stating, “this is not a time for trial and error; we can’t afford a leader to learn on the job and experiment as that will be costly. An experienced and steady hand is required to captain our ship to the promised land. Beyond politics, we must look at capacity and verifiable track record, and I boldly say there is no better candidate than the former VP, Atiku Abubakar.”
“Dr. Iyanda charged members of the group to return to their ward and polling units within Oyo Central to canvass all eligible voters for Atiku Abubakar/Ifeanyi Okowa and all PDP candidates. We have a great opportunity to promote candidates that need no introduction to the people. Let us act with conviction and commitment that future generations may never have a reason to say we failed them.”
