Cholera is an acute diarrheal illness caused by infection of the intestine with the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. It is typically contracted through consumption of contaminated water or food.
Symptoms
Cholera symptoms begins to appear between 12 hours and 5 days after consumption of contaminated food or water. In severe cases, symptoms can develop quickly and require immediate medical attention.

Cholera treatment is usually through the use of Antibiotics and rehydration therapy.
