The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi-Aliyu, popularly known as BASA, has called on Nigerians, particularly residents of Oyo South, to reject money politics and vote buying ahead of the forthcoming elections.

BASA said the 2027 general election presents another opportunity for the people to demand credible, competent and accountable leadership, rather than allowing temporary financial inducements and gifts to influence their electoral decisions.
According to her, many politicians who have spent years in public office without delivering meaningful development often return to the electorate as elections approach with money and handouts, seeking to win the support of the same people they allegedly failed to adequately serve.
She stressed that voters must begin to assess candidates based on their character, competence, capacity and performance, noting that the future of communities and generations yet unborn should not be exchanged for temporary benefits.

“Your vote is your power. Don’t sell it,” BASA declared, urging the electorate to protect the integrity of their votes and use them to demand quality representation and responsible governance.
The senatorial hopeful maintained that public office should be viewed as a call to service rather than an avenue for personal enrichment, expressing confidence that the people can collectively build a political culture founded on accountability and people-oriented leadership.
