President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given his approval for the revision of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for Health Professionals in the Federal Public Service. The updated salary structure will come into effect from June 1, 2023.
The announcement was conveyed in a circular dated July 26, 2023, by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, Ekpo Nta, and was sighted by Nigerian Tribune in Abuja on Thursday. The Head of Information at the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, Mr. Emmanuel Njoku, confirmed the authenticity of the circular.
According to the circular, President Tinubu’s approval followed a thorough review of the Health Sector Salary Structures by the Commission. As part of the changes, a 25% increase in the peculiar allowance for Medical and Dental Doctors in hospitals, medical centers, and clinics within the Federal Public Service was also approved.

In a separate circular, it was stated that Medical and Dental Doctors in the Federal Public Service will now receive an Accountrement Allowance of twenty-five thousand Naira (N25,000:00) per quarter. This allowance will be paid from the overhead budget and will be effective from June 1, 2023.
With the revision of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure, health workers on Grade Level will earn N45,000 per annum, while those on Grade Level 15 will earn N6,315,091.
