BREAKING: Senator Omisore, Ex-Governor Oyetola’s Commissioners Dump APC, Declare Support for Adeleke

BREAKING: Senator Omisore, Ex-Governor Oyetola’s Commissioners Dump APC, Declare Support for Adeleke

Fresh cracks have emerged within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State as key political figures, including relatives and former appointees of prominent party leaders, have resigned from the ruling party and declared support for Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Among those who announced their exit from the APC are Prince Akinsore Omisore, younger brother of former APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore; former Commissioner for Education, Hon. Folorunso Oladoyin Bamisayemi, popularly known as BAMBAM; and former Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Lawal Azeez Olayemi.

Prince Akinsore Omisore formally tendered his resignation in a letter dated June 15, 2026, addressed to the APC Chairman of Moore Ward in Ife East Local Government Area of Ile-Ife.

In the letter, Akinsore stated that his decision followed careful reflection and was based on personal convictions.

“I hereby formally tender my resignation as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect,” he wrote.

He expressed appreciation for the opportunity to have been associated with the party and requested that his name be removed from its membership register, effectively withdrawing from all APC activities.

Similarly, former Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Yemi Lawal, announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the APC chairman of Ward 8 in Isokan Local Government Area.

Lawal explained that his decision came after extensive consultations with his family, political associates, leaders, and other stakeholders, adding that his future political aspirations also influenced the move.

He accused the party of failing to accommodate differing views, citing what he described as political persecution within its ranks.

“The political persecution suffered by myself, leaders and political followers alike over time has shown clearly that our party lacks the required skill to manage diverse opinions on issues,” Lawal stated.

The latest defections are seen as a significant development in Osun’s political landscape, especially as preparations intensify for the state governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

Sources close to the defectors indicated that they have thrown their support behind Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, a move that could further reshape political alignments in the state ahead of the polls.

Political observers believe the resignations signal growing discontent within the APC in Osun and may have implications for the party’s electoral prospects in the upcoming governorship race.
