Takai Shamang, a former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and renowned labor leader, has been kidnapped from his hometown in Kaduna state.
Shamang, 78, was abducted from his residence in Biniki, Kaura Local Government Area, on Friday evening, Egalitarian voice reports.
According to his daughter, Grace Abbin, the kidnappers broke into their family home around 8:00 pm and forcibly took her father away. Abbin confirmed the incident to journalists over the weekend.
Shamang, a veteran labor activist, served as President General of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers (now National Union of Electricity Employees) from 1982 to 1989. He also founded the GAWON Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting widows, orphans, and the needy.
