••• Urges Nigerians to Embrace Collective Responsibility, Accountability and National Development
As Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary on Thursday, October 1, 2026, Hon. Bolanle Amina Sarumi-Aliyu (BASA), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, has congratulated Nigerians, calling for renewed patriotism, national unity and collective commitment to the country’s development.
In her Independence Day message, BASA described Nigeria as a nation blessed with incredible human resources, rich potential and a promising future, urging citizens to remain hopeful and committed to building a more peaceful, prosperous and inclusive country.
She called on Nigerians to prioritise unity over division, hope over despair and selfless service over personal interests, stressing the importance of collective efforts in addressing the country’s challenges and realising its vast potential.
BASA also offered prayers for lasting peace across the country, prosperity for Nigerian families, greater opportunities for young people and the empowerment of women, while expressing hope for a nation where no citizen is left behind.
Emphasising the importance of civic participation, the PDP senatorial candidate urged Nigerians to take an active role in nation-building by exercising their civic rights, participating in democratic processes, speaking up on issues of national importance, supporting one another and holding public officeholders accountable.
According to her, building the Nigeria of everyone’s dreams requires the active participation and shared responsibility of citizens across all sectors of society.
She further prayed that Almighty Allah would continue to bless Nigeria, protect its citizens and grant the nation’s leaders the wisdom and guidance needed to steer the country towards peace, progress and prosperity.
BASA concluded by wishing Nigerians a memorable 66th Independence Anniversary, reaffirming the importance of unity, patriotism and collective responsibility in shaping the country’s future.
