Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, A True Democrat – Yoruba Youth Council Hails President’s Intervention on Osun State Accounts
The Yoruba Youth Council (YYC) has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for directing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately vacate the court order freezing the bank accounts of the Osun State Government, describing the President’s intervention as a defining moment in the protection of Nigeria’s democratic values.
The Council said the President’s decision has further reinforced his image as a true democrat who places the nation’s interest, constitutional order, and the integrity of the electoral process above partisan considerations.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by its President, Mogaji Alawode Rahmon Akintunde, the YYC noted that President Tinubu’s prompt intervention came at a crucial period when the Osun State governorship election is less than ten days away, thereby averting a development that could have generated political tension, disrupted governance, and cast doubts on the credibility of the forthcoming poll.
According to the Council, President Tinubu’s directive underscores his unwavering commitment to ensuring that every democratic institution operates within the bounds of fairness, justice, and the rule of law.
“By directing the immediate unfreezing of the Osun State Government accounts, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has once again demonstrated that democracy must be protected at all times. His action reflects the qualities of a statesman who believes that elections should be conducted on a level playing field and that no government should be subjected to actions capable of undermining public confidence in the democratic process.”
The Council further stated that the President’s intervention has reassured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to strengthening democratic institutions rather than allowing them to be perceived as instruments of political advantage.
YYC added that the uninterrupted operation of the Osun State Government is essential to maintaining the delivery of public services and preserving peace and stability ahead of the September 2026 governorship election.

The youth body also commended President Tinubu for demonstrating political maturity and respect for constitutional governance, noting that his action would further enhance Nigeria’s democratic reputation before the international community.
The Council called on all political parties, candidates, supporters, security agencies, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to emulate the President’s commitment to fairness by ensuring that the forthcoming Osun governorship election is peaceful, transparent, credible, and acceptable to all stakeholders.
