The Association of Oyo State Tutorial Owners (AOSTO), under the visionary leadership of its Governor, Hon. Olalekan Oladipupo, extends its warmest congratulations to Dr. Abideen Taiwo Lasisi on his appointment as the substantive Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
This appointment is not only a well-deserved recognition of Dr. Lasisi’s outstanding leadership qualities, academic excellence, and administrative competence, but also a testament to the Oyo State Government’s unwavering commitment to merit, professionalism, and institutional excellence.
AOSTO Announces Scholarship Bursary for High-Scoring 2026 UTME Candidates in Oyo State
Dr. Lasisi, an Associate Professor of Statistics at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, and a former lecturer at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, has distinguished himself as an accomplished scholar and an astute administrator. His impressive academic background, coupled with his rich experience within and outside the institution, places him in an enviable position to provide the visionary leadership required to move the Polytechnic to greater heights.
Of particular note is his remarkable performance while serving as the Acting Rector for nearly two years. During this period, he demonstrated exceptional leadership by initiating and implementing transformative reforms that enhanced institutional stability, improved academic administration, strengthened stakeholders’ confidence, and positioned the institution on a progressive path. The numerous landmark achievements recorded during his acting tenure undoubtedly earned him the confidence of the government and the Polytechnic community, culminating in his confirmation as the substantive Rector.
AOSTO commends Governor Seyi Makinde for once again demonstrating courage and sincerity in governance by appointing a competent and tested administrator to lead one of the state’s foremost tertiary institutions. Indeed, the Governor has once again proven the timeless principle of putting the right peg in the right hole, a leadership approach that continues to yield positive outcomes across various sectors in Oyo State.
As critical stakeholders in the education sector, members of AOSTO are optimistic that Dr. Lasisi’s wealth of experience, innovative mindset, and commitment to excellence will consolidate the gains already recorded and usher in a new era of academic distinction, infrastructural development, technological advancement, industrial collaboration, and improved global visibility for The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
We pray that Almighty God grants him the wisdom, strength, sound health, and divine guidance required to successfully discharge the enormous responsibilities of his office. We also wish him a peaceful, productive, and hitch-free tenure marked by enduring achievements and lasting legacies.
