The campaign organisation of Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi-Aliyu (BASA), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, has announced the commencement of an empowerment and decoration training programme aimed at equipping eligible participants with practical skills.
The training is scheduled to commence on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the BASA Campaign Office, Baba Oluloyo’s Building, Molete, Ibadan, with activities expected to begin at 10:00 a.m. prompt.
According to the announcement made available to Egalitarian Voice on Friday October 23, 2026, the initiative forms part of the campaign organisation’s empowerment activities, with a focus on practical skills acquisition and encouraging participants to develop the capacity to engage in the decoration business.
Under the nomination arrangements, party chairmen across Ibadan are entitled to nominate five participants per Local Government Area (LGA). All candidates in Oyo South Senatorial District are permitted to nominate a maximum of two participants each, while political leaders within the district may nominate one participant per leader.

The organisers have also made it clear that possession of a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) is compulsory for all participants. The announcement states that no participant will be granted access to the training without presenting the required voter identification.
Furthermore, certificates of completion will be awarded exclusively to trainees who reside and are registered to vote in Oyo South Senatorial District. This requirement, according to the announcement, defines the eligibility criteria for participants seeking certification upon completion of the programme.
The BASA Campaign Organisation has disclosed that the decoration training will not be a one-off exercise, as additional empowerment sessions are scheduled to take place every Saturday. The arrangement is expected to provide continuing opportunities for eligible participants to learn, practise and develop their decoration skills.
Party chairmen, candidates and political leaders have consequently been urged to nominate individuals who demonstrate genuine interest in the decoration business and a willingness to apply the knowledge acquired during the training.
The organisers stressed the importance of selecting committed participants who would make productive use of the opportunity, rather than treating the exercise as a mere formality. They encouraged stakeholders to ensure that those nominated are prepared to participate actively and translate their training into practical skills.

The initiative is being promoted under BASA’s campaign slogan, “People First, Progress Always!”, with the programme offering eligible residents of Oyo South an opportunity to acquire practical decoration skills through the scheduled training sessions.
Building on its previous empowerment efforts, the BASA Foundation facilitated the registration of over 400 businesses with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in 2025, providing beneficiaries with an opportunity to formalise their businesses. The foundation is now extending its skills-development efforts through a free event decoration training programme for eligible constituents of Oyo South Senatorial District, with further training sessions planned to cover various businesses and vocational skills.
