In a significant political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, fourteen former House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Princess Dr. Aslam Aliyu Zamfara, have formally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defectors were received at Buhari House, the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, by the party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, alongside the National Secretary and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC).
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Princess Dr. Aslam Aliyu Zamfara explained that their decision followed consultations with political associates, supporters and grassroots stakeholders across their respective constituencies.
As part of their commitment, the fourteen defectors pledged to mobilise two million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election. They also expressed their readiness to work with the APC leadership, strengthen grassroots structures and engage communities through coordinated mobilisation and political sensitisation.
Welcoming the new members, Professor Yilwatda encouraged them to work collaboratively with existing party members, uphold party discipline and contribute to strengthening the APC’s structures at all levels.
The development marks another political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, as the incoming members prepare to integrate their political networks into the APC.
