The Social Democratic Party (SDP) says it will guarantee 50 per cent representation for women in government appointments and party organisations if its policies are implemented after the 2027 general elections.
The party also announced that its manifesto for the 2027 elections is ready and will be formally unveiled within days.
The SDP National Chairman, Sadiq Gombe, disclosed this on Thursday at the party’s national conference of women leaders held at its national secretariat in Abuja.

Represented at the event by the South-South Deputy Chairman, Senator Ugochukwu Uba, Gombe said the party was undergoing reorganisation ahead of the 2027 elections and was committed to greater inclusion of women in its political activities and decision-making structures.
He said the party’s forthcoming manifesto would provide for equal representation of men and women in appointments and party organisations, describing the policy as part of the SDP’s vision for a more inclusive political system.
Gombe also said the party’s presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, was already engaging Nigerians and presenting the party’s policies ahead of the election.

The SDP National Secretary, Olu Agunloye, confirmed that the manifesto had been completed, with only final preparations for its public launch remaining.
He said the document could be unveiled as early as the following week, although no specific date had been fixed.
Meanwhile, the National Speaker of the SDP Women Parliament, Sa’adatu Abdullahi, urged women leaders to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures across states, local government areas, wards and communities.
She said effective grassroots organisation would be critical to translating the party’s political ambitions into electoral success in 2027.
The party leadership called on its women leaders to intensify mobilisation and return to their respective states with renewed commitment ahead of the commencement of the 2027 campaign.
