Residents of Atiba Local Government Area have been urged to strictly comply with the 48-hour curfew imposed by the Oyo State Government as part of intensified security operations aimed at flushing out bandits and other criminal elements operating around the Old Oyo National Park axis.

The call was made by the Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Member representing Atiba State Constituency, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, who appealed to residents to cooperate with security agencies in the interest of peace and public safety.
In a statement made available to the public, Hon. Oyekola noted that the Atiba Local Government is among the areas affected by the government’s directive following ongoing security concerns within communities bordering the Old Oyo National Park.

According to him, the temporary restriction has become necessary to support security operatives in their efforts to dismantle criminal networks, restore public confidence, and safeguard lives and property across the affected local government areas.

The lawmaker emphasized that the curfew takes immediate effect and will remain in force for 48 hours, with restrictions on the movement of persons, vehicles, and motorcycles between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. daily throughout the period.

He further urged residents to remain vigilant, security-conscious, and law-abiding while avoiding actions capable of undermining the ongoing operations of security agencies.
“At this critical moment, collective cooperation and compliance with government directives are essential to achieving lasting peace and security in our communities. I appeal to all residents to remain calm, support the security agencies, and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities,” he said.
Hon. Oyekola expressed confidence in the capacity of the security agencies to successfully carry out the operation and restore normalcy, adding that the safety and well-being of residents remain a top priority.

The Oyo State Government had earlier announced the curfew in response to ongoing security operations around the Old Oyo National Park, a move aimed at curbing criminal activities and ensuring the safety of residents within the affected areas.
