
A grassroots politician and loyal member of the Governor Seyi Makinde political movement, Hon. Opeyemi Sunday Akintola, popularly known as HOSA, has officially declared his ambition to contest for the councillorship position in Ward 7, Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Egalitarian Voice reports that, the declaration was made during a meeting held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, where party members, supporters, and political associates gathered to witness the announcement.

Speaking at the gathering, supporters described HOSA as a dedicated grassroots mobiliser who has remained consistent in progressive politics over the years.
According to political associates, Hon. Akintola has been a committed member of the GSM political movement since 2014. He reportedly moved alongside the movement to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) before returning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2017.
It was also gathered that he had previously contested for the councillorship seat under the PDP platform, further strengthening his political experience and grassroots connection within Ward 7.

Following the recent political realignments involving Governor Seyi Makinde’s loyalists, HOSA is now aligned with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), under which platform he is seeking to actualise his ambition for the Ward 7 councillorship seat in Ibadan North Local Government.

The announcement was received with enthusiasm and celebration from party members and supporters present at the meeting, many of whom expressed confidence in his leadership capacity and commitment to community development.

In a show of appreciation and solidarity, Hon. Opeyemi Sunday Akintola reportedly distributed a total sum of ₦70,000 to party members during the gathering.
The meeting ended on a positive and energetic note, with supporters chanting the slogan:“HOSA TI DE, ILERI OLUWA 2026.”
