Hon. Olaleye Olusegun Thomas (SOT), a House of Assembly aspirant from Afijio Local Government and a Nigerian-Canadian, has joined the government and good people of Oyo State in celebrating the state’s 50 years of existence, describing the Golden Jubilee as a proud testament to resilience, rich heritage, and collective progress.
SOT noted that since its creation in 1976, Oyo State has remained a beacon of cultural pride, enterprise, and unity, sustained by the determination and resilience of its people both at home and in the diaspora. He described the Golden Jubilee as a moment for sober reflection on past struggles and achievements, as well as a renewed commitment to building a stronger and more prosperous future.
He specifically commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his purposeful leadership and the steady developmental strides recorded across the state, noting that the well-coordinated Golden Jubilee activities reflect a government that values history, inclusiveness, and good governance.
SOT also praised the people of Oyo State—particularly residents of Afijio Local Government—for their unwavering support for peace, grassroots development, and democratic values, stressing that sustainable growth can only be achieved through people-centred governance and inclusive representation.
Drawing from his experience as a Nigerian-Canadian, he emphasized the importance of diaspora engagement, knowledge transfer, and the adoption of global best practices as key drivers of accelerated development at both state and local levels.
Hon. Olaleye Olusegun Thomas (SOT) urged citizens to remain united and committed to shared responsibility as Oyo State marks its Golden Jubilee, while praying for continued peace, prosperity, and all-round development across the state.
