Egalitarian Voice reports that operatives of the Oyo State Amotekun Corps, under the Oriire Local Government Command, have apprehended four suspected kidnappers believed to be part of a notorious gang terrorising communities in the area.

According to security sources, the suspects, identified as Fulani men, were arrested during a joint operation with the Nigeria Police from Ikoyi-Ile Divisional Headquarters after a distress call from residents of Oloori Village.
It was gathered that the gang had earlier stormed Oloori Village with the intention of abducting a prominent businessman in the community. However, the target was said to have travelled to Ilorin on the night of the attack. Frustrated by his absence, the armed men reportedly shot a woman and kidnapped another female resident before fleeing into the forest.

A family source told Egalitarian Voice that the kidnappers later demanded a ransom and eventually collected a sum of five million naira before releasing the abducted woman. “Those who delivered the ransom were able to trace the direction of the kidnappers’ hideout and later alerted the DPO in charge of Ikoyi-Ile Police Division,” the source disclosed.

Upon receiving the intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer mobilised officers and contacted the Oriire Amotekun Coordinator for reinforcement. A joint team of security operatives subsequently combed the surrounding bushes, leading to the successful arrest of four suspects.
Recovered exhibits from the scene included an AK-49 rifle, four magazines, complete military uniforms, knives, and several mobile phones.

Speaking after the operation, the Oriire Amotekun Coordinator commended the synergy between the police and Amotekun operatives, stressing that the success was a result of timely intelligence sharing and community cooperation. He assured residents that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the fleeing gang.
