In what appears to be another notable defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Hon. Moshood Saheed Adekunle, a prominent grassroots mobilizer and two-time councillorship aspirant for Ward 8 in Ibadan North Local Government, has officially announced his resignation from the party.
Hon. Saheed disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Egalitarian Voice on Sunday, stating that his decision to exit the PDP was the result of deep reflection and a commitment to ideological realignment, progressive engagement, and alignment with a more inclusive, development-oriented political platform.
A respected figure in his constituency, Hon. Saheed is widely recognized for his dedication to community development and his longstanding political loyalty to Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi-A.A (BASA), a 2027 Gubernatorial hopeful and staunch advocate for youth and women empowerment. BASA recently resigned her membership from the PDP, a decision that is believed to have significantly influenced Hon. Saheed’s move.

“The time has come to reposition myself politically in order to better serve my constituents and align with a vision that prioritizes genuine service delivery, inclusive governance, and the advancement of democratic values,” Hon. Saheed declared.
Political analysts in Ibadan North suggest that this latest resignation could spark a ripple effect among BASA’s supporters and political associates, potentially altering the grassroots architecture and internal cohesion of the PDP within the local government.
Although Hon. Saheed has yet to reveal his next political destination, there is growing speculation that he is currently in consultations with other progressive blocs in the state. His next step is eagerly awaited by political stakeholders and supporters across Ibadan North.
This development contributes to the ongoing political realignment within Oyo State, as strategic repositioning and party restructuring continue ahead of the 2027 general elections.
