FIBSU National Emeritus President Aare Alao Olalekan Hosts New Executives, Promises Bursary Support for Students

In a remarkable gesture of mentorship and commitment to student development, the Emeritus President of the Federation of Ibadan Students Union (FIBSU National), Aare Alao Olalekan, on Monday, June 9, 2025, hosted the newly elected FIBSU National executives at Ona-Ara Local Government Guest House, Abonde, Ibadan, Egalitarian Voice reports.
The delegation, led by President-elect Comrade Giwa Kamorudeen Olawale, was warmly received by the esteemed elder statesman of the Union. During the meeting, Aare Alao reaffirmed his dedication to the progress of Ibadan students and pledged bursary support to financially challenged students across various institutions.
“I remain committed to empowering the next generation of Ibadan leaders. The bursary support is part of my ongoing contribution to ensure no student is left behind due to financial hardship,” Alao declared.
In attendance were prominent FIBSU leaders, including veteran unionist Mr. Amodu Afeez and media influencer Egalitarian Segun Akinlabi. Both leaders offered words of guidance and charged the incoming executives to maintain the Union’s integrity and legacy of activism.
“You are inheriting a mantle of responsibility that goes beyond office, it’s about purpose, character, and service,” Mr. Afeez noted.

Echoing this, Egalitarian Segun Akinlabi, a respected voice in the student movement and a leading media personality, urged the new leadership to embrace transparency and remain the voice of Ibadan students.
The entourage of the President-elect included the Treasurer-elect, Financial Secretary-elect, and Publicity Secretary-elect. They expressed gratitude for the support and pledged to deliver a tenure grounded in unity, accountability, and student-focused advocacy.
