Army recruitment Sees Just 200 Applicants From South East Youths – Official
Brig.-Gen. Chima Ekeator, leader of the Army Force Headquarters Recruitment Sensitisation Team in Anambra, has raised concern over the low number of South-East youths registering for the ongoing Army recruitment drive.
Speaking at a sensitisation event for youth leaders and community President-Generals (P-Gs) in the state, Ekeator revealed that only 200 youths from the South-East have registered so far—compared to over 4,000 in other regions.
“This sensitisation is crucial,” he said. “We need youth leaders and P-Gs to return to their communities and encourage young people to join. Increased participation will help the South-East fully utilise its quota in the Army.”
Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, represented by Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Aghambah, assured that the state government will intensify efforts to mobilise interested youths. He called on traditional rulers and P-Gs to help recruit at least 10 youths from each community.
